The other day, I watched a YouTube video about an actor. The actor, Lloyd Avery, is best known for being the shooter who killed Rickey in the movie, Boyz in the Hood. Other roles of his involved being a gangster as well. Sadly, he became his characters in real life. The story of this actor always touches my heart. I heard his story years ago and it saddened me. When I heard it recently, that emotion remained.
He grew up privileged. He lived a wealthy life and a carefree life away from gang life, but yet, he chose to live that life.
The life he chose sent him to prison. There, he was locked away with a satanist. It murdered him in their cell. This actor went from a wealthy life to a gang banger who was murdered by a satanist.
Why? What went wrong? My guess is that he was a lost soul. He did not know who he was or where he belonged. Therefore, he became whatever crossed his path.
It reminds me to pause and look at the person in the mirror. Find you and become the person God created you to be. When you do not know who you are, something or someone will create the version of you they want you to be. Never give anyone or thing that power over you.
